David Trezeguet believes he is ideally suited to partner Thierry Henry in this week’s friendly against theCzech Republic.

Juventus forward Trezeguet, whose season has been disprupted by injuries, returns to the national team for thefirst time since France’s dismal World Cup cammpaign, during which neither he, nor Henry found the net.

However, despite the disappointment of Japan/Korea, Trezeguet has urged French coach Jacques Santini to renew World Cup strike partnership.

‘Santini knows my qualities,’ he said.

‘He’s open minded about the system of play and about the individual qualities of players.

‘He must have an idea at the back of his mind for me and Titi (Henry),’ he toldFrench newspaper Le Parisien.

‘This match (against the Czech Republic) will be a chance to put it into practice.

‘The young ones want to dislodge the old ones,’ he added. ‘That’s the rule. But I won’t let myself be ousted without a fight,’ he said.

Meanwhile, Auxerre’s immensely promising defender Philippe Mexes has pulled out of the squad after injuring himself against Nantes at the weekend. Mexes becomes the third player to withdraw, following goalkeepers Fabien Barthez and Gregory Coupet.
