French international David Trezeguet made his comeback from injury last night as Juventus eased to a 2-0 third round first-leg win at Reggina in the Italian Cup.

Trezeguet, who has been plagued by injuries since last summer’s World Cup, played only 58 minutes of ehat was his first match since the start of October.

The Frenchman did not get on the scoresheet, however, as goals from the two Marcelos, Salas and Zalayeta, were enough to give Juventus a healthy first-leg advantage.

In Thursday’s other Italian Cup matches, Piacenza and Chievo played out a 1-1 draw, with both teams choosing to rest first-team players.

Piacenza took the lead thanks to a wonderful Vittorio Tosto volley, only to see Chievo reply with a strike from young Brazilian Marcos.

The day’s other match also finished 1-1, as Serie B side Vicenza came back from a goal down at home to draw with Bologna. The visitors took the lead through Claudio Bellucci, but could not manage to take a lead into the second leg as Stefan Schwoch replied for Vicenza.

The second legs take place in two weeks time.
