Valencia fullback Curro Torres has been ruled out for the rest of the season after undergoing ligament surgery on his right knee.

The injury usually takes at least six months to heal, forcing Torres to miss the climax of the Spanish domestic season as well as their Champions League campaign.

‘It’s sad for the player but an operation is now the preferred option and he’ll miss the rest of the season,’ Valencia’s medical chief Dr Jorge Candel confirmed.
