Volendam have sacked coach Henk Wisman because he undermined the confidence in his squad, the Dutch first division club said on Thursday.
Wisman, who has been at Volendam since 19q99, led the club to promotion via the playoffs last season but his team are 17th in the 18-team league and Wednesday’s 4-0 drubbing at home to RKC Waalwijk appears to have been the final straw.
His assistant Johan Steur will take over for the rest of the season.
Explaining their decision to sack Wisman, the he board cited his lack of confidence in his players and also the fact that he had criticised the club in public.
