Germany coach Rudi Voeller has called up striker Benjamin Lauth and defender Tobias Rau for the first time for next week’s friendly international against Spain.

1860 Munich’s Lauth and Wolfsburg’s Rau have been enjoying good seasons in the Bundesliga and have been drafted into the squad following injuries to several key players. Missing through injury are Carsten Jancker, Jens Nowotny, Dietmar Hamann, Christian Ziege and Gerald Asamoah.

Fourteen of the 20-man squad were at last year’s World Cup finals.
