Arsene Wenger would make an ideal chairman for Arsenal when he finally decides to retire from coaching, according to the current incumbent Peter Hill-Wood.
The Frenchman has been in charge at Arsenal since 1996, winning three titles in that period, reaching a Champions League final and landing four FA Cups.
Hill-Wood, 71, who fronts a board featuring five directors over the age of 60, believes Wenger would make an excellent future appointment.
“None of us are getting any younger,” Hill-Wood told the Financial Times. “Arsene would make an excellent chairman one day, but we haven’t discussed anything specifically.”
Hill-Wood’s was peaking the day the club’s minority shareholders get their chance to question directors at the annual general meetingamid mounting speculation that the club could be the subject of a takeover.
