Arenal manager Arsene Wenger has laughed off speculation linking Manchester United’s David Beckham with a œ30 millionmove to Highbury.

The Evening Standard suggested Arsenal will try to sign Beckham, after last weekend’s bust-up with manager Alex Ferguson. However, Wenger has been swift to dismiss the report.

“There is nothing true about that,” Wenger told the official Arsenall website.

“If we want to buy a player, we talk to the club first, and ask if the player is available. “Manchester United would know first and they don’t know a thing about it, so there is nothing true about it.

“People are just trying to take advantage of a story which has come out of United.”

Regardless of Ferguson’s relationship with Beckham, the prospect oof Manchester United selling a player to their closest domestic rivals was always remote.
