Arsene Wenger has paid tribute to his Arsenal side after they won the Premiership title at Tottenham.
“The overall achievement of the club has been tremendous,” he told the BBC.
“The championship is where you see how good a team is. All the players have had a remarkable attitude and all my staff have been fantastic.
“We’ve been remarkably consistent, haven’t lost a game and we have played stylish football. We have entertained people who just love football.”
“We have won the championship twice in the last three years and we have won the FA Cup twice in the last three years,” he said.
“In my opinion we have made up ground on Manchester United and have improved every year.
“It is now our target to defend the title. Manchester United won it three years in a row and we have improved since then, so we must try and win another Premiership.”
Wenger has now set his sights on completing the season unbeaten.
“I believe we must keep our humility and wonder how we can become a better team. That starts with me.
“If we do that then I believe there is a lot more to come from this side.
“My target now is to keep the players focused on our unbeaten record. We have put so much effort into this season so to lose a game now because we had switched off would not be ideal. We have to keep going.”
“It is my third title here and we want to continue like that because the club is getting bigger every year and our targets are getting bigger every year.”
Thierry Henry, who yesterday was confirmed as the PFA Playerof the Year for the second successive season, was delightedtop have won the title at the ground of Arsenal’s nearest rivcals.
“Although it was important for us to win the title here it was more for them,” the striker said.
This Arsenal team is something else Thierry Henry Henry retains PFA crown
“Even though we didn’t win the game people will remember that we won the title at White Hart Lane. That was really important for the supporters.
“You don’t win the title every day. It happened that it was at Tottenham and that’s special, but we would have done it (celebrate on the pitch) everywhere.
“We know it’s special for the fans so you can’t just leave and go home. They deserved it.”
