German first division club Wolfsburg have sacked coach Wolfgang Wolf after a series of disappointing results saw the club move closer to the relegation zone.

The club confirmed that Wolfm who has been in charge at the club since 1998, would be replaced by Juergen Roeber.

Wolfsburglie 11th place in the 18-team Bundesliga table and are just five points above the relegation zone.

Roeber has been offered a three year contract.
