Juventus midfielder Edgar Davids, who has been linked with a move away from Juventus all summer, looks set for a œ18million move Roma.

The Dutch international has reportedly fallen out with Juve coach Marcelo Lippi and is keen to quit the Delle Alpi for the Stadio Olimpico. Roma have been pursuing the 29-year-old but were unable to agree a fee because Davids is ineligible to play in the Champions League.

The signing of Davids would give last season’s Serie A runners-up a much-needed boost. Playmaker Francesco Totti will miss the opening if the new season through injury, and Roma coach Fabio Capello admitted: ‘He is not fit enough yet, and he won’t be on the field for the start of the season.’
