Bundesliga club Kaiserslautern are threatened with financial ruin due to unpaid taxes, according to a report in Bild newspaper.

The Bild report stated the club would have to repay 20 million euros in back taxes, which could ultimately lead to the club going bankrupt.

The club refused to comment on the report but said in a statement that their initial enquiries into alleged financial irregularities by the club’s former management, had been sent to the tax authorities.

According to the report, the club had not declared salaries paid to former Kaiserslautern players Youri Djorkaeff and Taribo West.
