Liverpool have identified Blackburn Rovers’ Irish striker Damien Duff or Feyenoord’s Australian winger Brett Emerton, as potential recruits following the collapse of Lee Bowyer’s move to Anfield.

Blackburn are looking for œ20m for Duff but remain hopeful of keeping him, possibly on a new deal with the option to leave in a year. Liverpool are understood to be lining up a cash plusplayer deal which would see Steven Wright and Djimi Traore head to Ewood Park.

The Australian international meanwhile has been linked with a move to Leeds over the past few months but according to newspaper reports, Gerard Houllier is willing to firm up his interest and land the œ8 million-rated wide-man.

Senegal left winger Khalilou Fadiga is another player linked with a move to Anfield but with the signing of left-sided Bruno Cheyrou earlier in the summer, Liverpool’s priority is a player on the right flank.
