Barcelona captain Luis Enrique has been ruled out for the next two months after aggravating his achilles tendon injury.
The 32-year-old forward suffered the injury in Barcelona’s match with Valladolid on October 20. He played the following week but came off complaining of soreness and has not played since.
The injury will see theformer Spanish international miss Barcelona’s opening two Champions League fixtures as well as the next four Spanish league fixtures.
News of Luis Enrique’s injury is a significant setback to Louis Van Gaal. In his absence, Barcelona have struggled, taking just five points from four league games, slipping to 10th place in thetable, seven points adrift of leaders Real Sociedad.
