Bojan Prasnikar has been appointed the new national coach of Slovenia.

The Slovenian Football Association is hoping to confirm on Wednesday the appointment of the new coach.

The appointment follows the resignation of Srecko Katanec after a controversial World Cup campaign which culminated in the expulsion of star striker Zlatko Zahovic.

Prasnikar is currently coach of club side Maribor and will continue as coach, as well as taking on the responsibility of national team coach for which he has signed a four-year deal. He has lead Maribor to six successive First Division titles.
