The Croatian Football federation have named Otto Baric as the new coach of the Croatian national side.

The 69-year-old has been contracted up until the end of qualification for Euro 2004.

“Continuation of our cooperation will depend on results in qualifications,” said Vlatko Maric the head of the Croatian Football Federation.

His appointment comes after Mirzo Jozic earlier resigned ascoach after Croatia failed to progress past the first round of this summer’s World Cup.

Baric has previous coaching experience with Sturm Graz, Rapid Vienna, Stuttgart, Fenerbahce and Dinamo Zagreb, with whom he won the Croatian championship. He also coached the Austrian national side, but was sacked when they failed to qualify for the World Cup last year.

Baric beat off a number of competitors for the job, including ex-Dinamo coach Marijan Vlak.
