Bayern Munich have told Manchester United they will not sell Owen Hargreaves in January.

United manager Sir Alex Ferguson confirmed earlier this week that he was still interested in signing Hargreaves after failing to land him in the summer.

Ferguson has made Hargreaves is determined to bring the England midfielder to Old Trafford.

Hargreaves, who is currently recovering from injury, has made no secret of his desire to join United, but Bayern scuppered any deal in August.

Bayern general manager Uli Hoeness has told United that Hargreaves will not be moving regardless of the offer made by the Premiership outfit.

“All United’s efforts to sign Owen Hargreaves are utterly futile,” Hoeness told the Mirror.

“We will not release Owen Hargreaves in January under any circumstances.”
