Chelsea’s Portuguese full-back Jose Bosingwa will miss the rest of the season and the World Cup as he requires further surgery on a knee injury.

Bosingwa had returned to light training after knee surgery but has now been ruled out for the season because another operation is required.

That means he is unavailable for the remainder of Chelsea’s campaign and he will also miss this summer’s World up finals.

Chelsea assistant manager Ray Wilkins confirmed the news, saying: ”Bosingwa will be out for the season and have another operation, so that’s him unfortunately, and he’ll miss the World Cup as well,” adding that the injury ”just needs clearing up.'”
