Chelsea have confirmed that goalkeeper Petr Cech required surgery after a training ground accident at the weekend.
the news mans that Cech, already a huge doubt for their Champions League quarter-final second leg clash with Fenerbahce on Tuesday, will almost certainly miss the game.
A Chelsea statement read: “Petr Cech underwent surgery yesterday [Sunday] following a training ground accident which left him with lacerations to his lip and chin.
“Petr will begin his rehabilitation immediately and we hope to have him back playing as soon as possible.”
