Alessandro Del Piero has admitted to becoming increasingly frustrated at being left out of the Juventus starting line-up in recent games.

The forward has been forced to start the last two games on the bench as coach Marcello Lippi refuses to take chances with his fitness. Those games have conincided with an upturn in Juve’s form after a blip in the preceding weeks.

“Sitting on the bench makes me angry,” Del Piero told Tuttosport .

“That’s because I can’t contribute to the side.”

Del Piero, who has struggled with a thigh injury for much of the season, has been heavily criticised for some inconsistent performances throughout the campaign.

“I get injured at least once a year and it takes time for me to get back to my best,” added Del Piero.

“However, I’m now back and I hope to be fundamental for my club again. “I don’t want to spend any more time on the treatment table this season.”
