Didier Drogba says it would be a ‘delight’ to play alongside Lyon winger Florent Malouda at Chelsea.

The pair remain on friendly terms from their time together at Guingamp and Drogba believes the France international would be a success at Stamford Bridge.

“To play in England, he has the physical means to stand any kind of pressure and marking,” he told France Football.

“I am convinced he would not need a very long time to adapt.

“Of course we would like to play together again. That would be a dream, because when you are a forward, playing beside such a player is a delight.

“I know we could find each other on the pitch with our eyes closed.

“If he wants to come to Chelsea, I am keen to go and get him all the way on foot myself, because I am aware what a man so decisive and altruistic could bring me.”

Malouda has been heavily linked with a move to Liverpool, and although the player has admitted he would be interesetd in a swithc to Anfield.

There were contacts (with Liverpool),” he told France Football. “But I don’t know if they have shown their interest directly to Lyon.

“Before being announced there, they should show interest! But Liverpool, why not? It is a great club.

“People are used to making decisions based on the different leagues, but I would rather decide based on the clubs.

“Last term, the Italian season was not very exciting, but that didn’t prevent AC Milan winning the Champions League.”
