Moshen Salah has quit as Egypt coach after his team’s exit from the African Nations Cup.

“I have done my best and on our return home I will resign and allow another coach to try his hand in guiding the national team,” said Salah.

Egypt drew 0-0 with Cameroon but they failed to qualify for the quarter-finals.

“I have failed to qualify the team for the quarter-finals. When I signed my contract I had three objectives – to qualify for the African Nations Cup, to win the Cup and to qualify for the World Cup 2006. “I was successful in my first objective, but in the second I failed,” he said Tuesday.

Salah becomes the second coaching victim of these championships. Mick Wadsworth was sacked two days as coach Democratic Republic of Congo.
