Milan striker Alberto Gilardino has signed for Fiorentina, the two Serie A clubs have confirmed.
The 25-year-old endured a disappointing season where he was unable to displace Filippo Inzaghi and Alexandre Patos.
He scored just seven league goals and missed out on a place in Italy’s Euro 2008 squad despite helping the Azzurri win the World Cup two years ago.
Both clubs announced the deal on their Web sites but no fee or length of contract was given.
Milan have made clear they want to bring in at least one striker in the close season, with Chelsea’s Didier Drogba and Andrii Shevchenko on their list of targets alongside Barcelona’s Samuel Eto’o.
The former Parma forward, who has spent three years at Milan, almost quit the club in the last close season.
