Future Feyenoord boss, Ruud Guillit has begged Robin van Persie to reconsider his options and turn down any moves to Arsenal.

Guillit takes the helm at Feyenoord at the end of the season and while he admits he can understand van Persie’s interest in Arsenal, he insists it would be a bad career move for the 20-year-old forward.

The Dutchman who first coined the phrase ‘sexy football’ said: “If he is doubtful about his future he can come to me and I will advise him to stay at Feyenoord.

“This is not in our best interests, but his too because I know how it works at a club like Arsenal.

“You can imagine that Robin will hardly play in the first three years.

“I can’t imagine that a player like Robert Pires will sit on the bench in favour of Robin.”

Guillit went onto assert that although he wants van Persie to stay he wants all his players to be totally committed to his cause.

“If Robin wants to stay at Feyenoord he is welcome to, but I only want to work with players who want to play for the club,” Gullit added.
