Ajax striker Zlatan Ibrahimovic is the latest striker to decline the chance of a move to Sunderland.

The 20-year-old Swedish international confirmed his desire to stay with Ajax. Earllier the deal lookedin jeopardy when the two clubs failed to agree a fee for the striker.

“I am fully focused at Ajax and don’t think about other clubs,” he said. “I am much happier at Ajax and in Amsterdam than I was last season.

“I have spoken to the coach and he promised me more playing time.

“The Champions League will be a big challenge, and possibility for me.”

Sunderland, who were the lowest scorers in the Premeir League lasst season, are desperate to recruit a new striker before the transfer deadline on August 31. Under-pressure boss Peter Reid has already seen bids for Leeds’ Robbie Keane and Rangers’ Tore Andre Flo, turned down.
