Internazionale have confirmed the signing of Walter Samuel from Real Madrid.

The Milan club, who have already signed midfielder Santiago Solari from Real, are also keen to sign Samuel’s Bernabeu team-mate Luis Figo.

Samuel believes Inter, who finished third in Serie A last season, are in with a good chance of runnig Juve and Milan closer, this time around.

“We have a very strong squad and all we have to find is the right team spirit to win the championship,” he told the Gazzetta dello Sport.

“I don’t feel we are far behind the likes of Juve and Milan. They have both made good signings but Inter have also strengthened the squad. I believe we start on a par with them.”

A statement by Inter confirmed the Argentinian defender has signed a four-year contract with the Nerazzurri. Although no fee was disclosed, it is understood Inter have paid €16 million for the South American defender.
