Tottenham boss Martin Jol has expressed his anger with supporters who subjected Egyptian striker Mido to racial abuse.
Mido, a Muslim, was subjected to chants about his religion.
Jol said: “Was it tasteless? Yes. Our fans gave Teddy Sheringham a marvellous reception on his return and that is the way we deal with things here.”
Spurs’ Paul Stalteri told The Sun: “It is nonsense. It does not belong in sport. It is a form of racism.”
“I don’t think he will be affected by it. He scored a great goal so he has given them the right answer.”
