Rangers defender Arthur Numan has confirmed he is to leave the club in the summer.

The Dutch international had been hoping to agree to a one-year extension on his presennt contract, but negotiations stalled over Numan’s pay demands.

‘Everyone knows the financial situation at the club and I was willing to take a pay cut but the gap between what the club offered and what I wanted was too big so I have decided I will leave in the summer,’ he told the club’s official website.

Despite the breakdown in talks, the 33-year-old defender will leave the club on good terms, admitting that he is hopeful of quitting Rangers on a high.

‘There would be no better way of ending my time in Scotland with a championship medal – and maybe even more,’ he stated.
