Rangers boss Alex McLeish has confirmed negotiations have begun to bring Turkish international striker Hakan Sukur to Ibrox.

McLeish has discussing the move with the 31-year-old and hopes to have an answer nextt week, once, what he described as “bureaucratic” problems have been sorted out.

“We won’t know until Monday or Tuesday if there’s a chance of Sukur coming to have a look at the place and for us to have a look at him in terms of his fitness,” confirmed McLeish.

“We understand that he would like to come but we don’t know how many offers or invitations he has in the pipeline.”

Despite the closure of the transfer window, the move can still go through as Sukur is currentlly wiithout a club.
