Roma sporting director Daniele Prade has handed Claudio Ranieri a vote of confidence ahead of Saturday’s home match against Inter.

Ranieri is under pressure after Roma’s disappointing start to the season.

Reports in Italy have linked former national team coach Marcello Lippi with the Giallorossi position but Prade has moved to dispel the speculation.

“There is no Lippi situation,” said Prade.

“I confirm our confidence in Ranieri.”

Ranieri, meanwhile, was angry with the referee after Wednesday’s 2-1 defeat to Brescia – a result that dropped the club into the relegation zone with just two points in four league games.

“We should have been awarded two penalties, while their penalty was non-existent,” said Ranieri.

“My team did not deserve to lose. It’s a negative time for us but we have to continue to believe in what we are doing.”
