Roma are set to splash the cash when the transfer window re-opens in an effort to get the club’s season back on track.

Last night’s 3-1 defeat to Arsenal along with adisapppointing start to the domestic season, has persuaded the club’s hierarchy to get busy in the transfer market.

“President Franco Sensi has given his approval for us to try to buy new players in the New Year,” said rhe club’ director general Franco Baldini.

“The defence and the midfield are the areas where we will look to strengthen. But we won’t be looking to add any new strikers because we are well covered in that area.”

One long-term target is Juventus’ tigerish midfield player Edgar Davids. The Ducthman was expected to join Roma in the summer but the clubs could not agree terms. Another player linked with a move to the Stadio Olimpico, is Bayern Munich’s Ghanaian defender Sammy Kuffour
