Roberto Carlos and Ronaldo have told Brazilian federation officials that they want to play for their country at the Olympic Games finals in Athens.

Olympic gold is the one international prize the record five-times World Cup-winners have never claimed but they will be favourites assuming they win through the imminent South American qualifying section.

Nations are allowed to name up to three over-age players in the finals though whether Real Madrid would be happy to lose both their Brazilian ‘galacticos’ in August is questionable.
