Internazionale defender Walter Samuel has failed in his attempt to overturn his three-match ban.

The Argentine centre-back was suspended after being found guilty of spitting at Juventus midfielder Pavel Nedved during the Italian Supercup meeting between the two sides.

Samuel denied spitting, while Nedved admitted he was unaware of the incident, but his appeal was rejected.

“We take note of this decision,” said Inter president Giacinto Facchetti.

“We are really sorry it went this way, in particular for the player who has been penalised on both the technical and the moral point of view.”
