Portugal international Simao Sabrosa has undergone a medical and looks set to join Liverpool.
The Benfica winger is expected to complete his move prior to Wednesday’s transfer deadline in a deal worth €15 million.
The wide man’s agent Jorge Baidek has confirmed to skysports.com that the talks are heading towards a positive conclusion.
“Now the operation is very advanced and we wait for a final solution in the next few hours,” his agent Jorge Baidek told skysports.com.
However, Benfica are thought to be trying to block Simao’s move to The Premiership as they are reluctant to lose the player.
There have been suggestions that Benfica want Djibril Cisse in part exchange but with Liverpool failing in their attempt to sign Michael Owen, it seems unlikely that they will be prepared to part with a striker.
