Stuttgart fail in Henchoz bid

Stuttgart have admitted defeat in their attempt to bring Liverpool’s Swiss defender Stephane Henchoz to the Gottlieb-Daimler Stadium.

Coach Felix Magath wanted the international- who is out of contract at the end of the season – to strengthen his defence.

Magath worked with the 29-year-old once before, while he was coaching at Strasbourg.

“Liverpool are not willing to talk about a transfer,’ said Magath. ‘The topic is dead.”

“We need more than pocket change for a transfer like that.”
