Struggling Serie A club Treviso have appointed Alberto Cavasin as their new coach.

The 49-year-old replaced Ezio Rossi, who was sacked following last weekend’s 0-0 draw with Cagliari.

Despite his new team’s poor start to the season, Cavasin is confident Treviso can retain their place in the top flight.

“The squad is competitive. There are at least 10 teams at our level. We’ve got everything we need to avoid relegation,” he told La Gazzetta dello Sport on Friday.

Treviso currently lie 18th in the 20-team division with six points from 11 matches.
