Gerald Vanenberg has been appointed the new manager of 1860 Munich succeeding Falko Gotz who was fired at the weekend.

Gotz was sacked after Saturday’s 2-1 home defeat against Hamburg, which left the club fourth from bottom of the league with five matches remaining.

Vanenberg was youth team coach at Dutch giants PSV Eindhoven but opted to return to the club he played for in the late 1990’s.
