Wenger was delighted to see his captain Thierry Henry return to action and believes the Arsenal skipper can lift Arsenal in the second half of the season.

Henry has struggled to live up to his usual standards in the first half of Arsenal’s campaign, citing mental and physical fatigue for his indifferent form.

He has been resting for the last few weeks but returned to action and opened the scoring in the 4-0 victory over Charlton on Tuesday.

“He’s in a good frame of mind now because he has been at the end of his physical and mental potential,” he said.

“He is refreshed and has come back hungry and fresh.

“I’m convinced you will see a great Thierry Henry from now until the end of May.

“We have a lot to go for. Maybe in the league, we are very, very far behind but we want to do as well as we can.

“We go in the Champions League, we have the FA Cup on Saturday at Liverpool, we are in the quarter-finals of the Carling Cup as well.

“A good Thierry Henry can make the difference in the big games.”
