Wolfsburg have received a setback with the news that midfielder Karim Ziani is expected to be out for at least two months.
The Algerian international started the club’s opening three matches in the Bundesliga this season, but missed the win over Hannover last time out.
Doctors have now decided that the 28-year-old, who has been struggling with a pain in his groin, needs an operation to fix the problem.
The club said in a statement on their official website: “The experts consulted have determined that Karim Ziani could not do without a hip operation.
“It is expected he will be out for two to three months.”
