Juventus will be looking for a big win against Rapid Vienna as they look to overtake Bayern Munich on goal difference at the top of Group A.
Fabio Capello’s team lie level with Bayern on points, but behind on goal difference.
However, Juve will not be at their strongest tonight with Capello looking to give a run out to some of his fringe players.
“The team will be switched to make sure all our players get an opportunity to impress, but I’m not sure exactly who this will involve,” he said.
“Every game we play is equally important and we want to win the group,” he said. “We’ll think about Serie A only after this match.”
For Rapid, without a point so far, the match offers an opportunity to say farewell to coach Josef Hickersberger who is in charge of the team for his penultimate game before taking over as Austria’s national coach.
“We are fully focused on the Juventus match because we want to bounce back from the 4-0 defeat in Munich,” he said.
“Our fans deserve maximum effort before we travel to second-placed [SV Austria] Salzburg next Saturday for our final fixture before the winter break.”
“Of course I can imagine an easier side to play than Juventus because they are world class, even on the substitutes’ bench, so it makes little difference if they rest their stars,” he added.
“However, if we win our battles we will have a chance to end the group on a bright note. One point would be a dream come true because there is a big difference between the teams.”
