Arjen Robben believes that Real Madrid’s ‘attacking, attractive football’ will suit him more than the style of football played at Stamford Bridge.
The Dutch winger joined Real in a £24million deal last month and Robben cannot wait to make his bow in Spain.
“I will enjoy it more over here. Maybe this is a style of play that suits me better,” Robben told The Sun.
“Real Madrid are a team and the coach said he wants to play attacking, attractive football – so that all sounds very good to me.
“I think I can be important to the team. As a left winger, you are there to score goals and, hopefully, I can do that
“It’s been decided I’d do an extra pre-season to give me more time to get used to it here and to adapt and to make myself very strong, so when I start I can show everybody the player I am.
“I had a little bit of bad luck last year. I had surgery on my knee and I couldn’t really come back properly because the season was finished.
“I started again with Chelsea in pre-season but things were fluid so the pre-season was not the best.
“And of course the situation with Real Madrid – going or staying – is not good for you or for your body.”
