Andrei Arshavin expects to be sidelined for between two and three weeks as a result of his calf injury sustained against Barcelona.

A 2-2 draw for Arsenal in Wednesday’s Champions League quarter-final first leg was tainted by injuries to three key players.

Arsene Wenger has confirmed that defender William Gallas may have played his last game this season after being stretchered off with a calf complaint, while skipper Cesc Fabregas suffered a suspected broken leg, and Arshavin was also substituted in the first half due to a calf injury.

Arshavin expects to miss the return leg, Premier League games against Wolves and Tottenham.

“Perhaps, I won’t be able to come out on the pitch for another two or three weeks,” Arshavin told his official website.

Arshavin was receiving treatment as Arsenal mounted an unlikely comeback to draw 2-2 having gone 2-0 down to two goals from Zlatan Ibrahimovic.

Arshavin added: “Now I can say only one thing: Arsenal footballers, without doubt, showed their character.”
