After their 2-1 win over Catania, Inter Milan have been trimmed to a best price 5/1 to retain Serie A this season

Valencia president Manuel Llorente believes a move for Lorient striker, Kevin Gameiro, is unlikely to succeed due to the French club’s €12million valuation of the player.

The Spanish outfit were hoping to wrap up a deal early on in the winter window.

However, those plans have been scuppered by Lorient’s demands for their prized asset.

With the asking price for the 23-year-old set at €12million (£10m), Llorente admits there is little chance of Los Che being able to prise the Frenchman away from his homeland.

He told L’Equipe: “We will not conclude (this deal) now or for some time because the negotiations are going slowly.

“The problem is that Lorient will not lower their price to less than 12million euros. That is pure madness.

“If you look at the difference between what they want and what we are offering (quoted as €7m), which is very reasonable, there is a 40 per cent difference.”

Gameiro, who has scored eight times in 17 Ligue 1 appearances for Lorient this season, is a target for a number of French clubs, with Premier League strugglers, West Ham, always reported to be keen.
