Anghel Iordanescu has changed his mind about quitting his position just three days after offering his resignation as Romania’s coach following the 5-2 home defeat by Denmark in a EURO 2004 qualifier.

“I have decided to stay as Romania’s coach to see out my contract until the last match of the 2004 European campaign,” Iordanescu told reporters.

“It will be better for the Romanianteam if I remain on the bench rather than leaving.”

Saturday’s defeat was Romania’s biggest in the past 25 years and they slipped to third in Group Two with six points, one fewer than Denmark and Norway who both have a match in hand.
