Maxi Rodriguez is close to joining Liverpool according to his agent Jurgen Milewski.
The Argentinian international is reported to have opened talks with the Reds at the weekend after he was left out of the Atletico Madrid squad for their game against Sevilla on Saturday.
The former Espanyol winger is out of contract in the summer but is expected to sign initially on a short-term loan deal.
“I can say the chances of a transfer are high,” Milewski is quoted as saying in the Daily Mirror.
To fund the deal, Liverpool manager Rafa Benitez is looking to cut the Anfield wage bill by selling the likes of Andrea Dossena and Andriy Voronin.
