Brazilian Marcos Cesar Paqueta has been appointed the new coach of Saudi Arabia.

Paqueta, who coached Saudi club Al Hilal, replaces Argentine Gabriel Calderon coach following the team’s poor showing at the West Asian Games.

Calderon had been in charge of the team for just under one year and led the side to next year’s World Cup finals in Germany.

The Saudi Football Federation had warned Calderon that his job was under threat and after finishing fourth in the West Asia tournament, decided to dispense with his services.
