Chelsea veteran Gianfranco Zola has hinted that he could be persuaded to play on for another year at Stamford Bridge.
Zola had intended to retire at the end of the 2002-03 campaign when he will be 37. But his recent sparkling form may persuade him to stay on.
Zola currently heads the Premiership scoring charts with 10 goals and he is first choice striker under Claudio Ranieri.
“I don’t feel like I am 36”, Zola said. “I run up and down the pitch as much as anyone and don’t feel tired.
“I might now change my plans and carry on playing. When you play like this and enjoy it so much, it makes you think why stop?
“I am 36 and I hope I can play this well when I am 37, and then 40? Well, that is a long, long way away.”
