Chelsea manager Guus Hiddink has given a transfer update regarding Matt Miazgo and Alexandre Pato.

Miazgo is a New York Red Bulls defender who is expected to join the club for £3.5m after he completes his medical on Saturday, whilst Brazilian Pato is expected to sign on a six-month-loan deal with a view to making the deal permanent at the end of the season.

Speaking at his press conference earlier, Hiddink confirmed the imminent signings of both players.

On Miazgo, Hiddink said:

“He [Miazgo] is a promising player, We’re not rushing but he will be one of the squad members for the future.

“[He is a] young guy, stepping up to the national team. You can see what players are capable of in training.”

He added that the paperwork was all that was left to complete for the Pato transfer,

“He was well spotted,” Hiddink said.

“Nowadays there are no secrets. He is now in the bureaucratic process we are waiting.”

“If you buy players who must make next step it’s more of a risk. A loan is good for everyone.

“We’ll give him time to settle, then it’s up to him”

Gary Cahill’s future has been speculated recently. The defender has fallen out of Hiddink’s plans recently, but the manager said that he spoke to Cahill about his recent situation and he was clear that he was an important member of the team.
